I just laugh when explicitly US terms are applied to events/circumstances not in the USA.

Like my example earlier... if I remember my class correctly, in the UK it's "costs", or "fees of the solicitors/barristers".

That they have a two-tier lawyer system is pretty cool.

So here's where I'm at with this. I think, if anyone is the same person, it's Thelle and Insolent. I don't think Aki, Eve, or anyone else is either of them. I think that it started off as a small white lie. Insolent is an identity created to keep it seperate from Thelle's usual identity. I don't think it was malicious. I don't think it was a scam. And then, for legal purposes, Thelle had to be involved on the back end. Thelle had to get more and more involved, actually. It got stressful to the point that it was easier to kill off the connection between Insolent and Cherp, and just accept that his name was going to be attached to Cherp. However, recently we know that Thelle has been spiteful and/or destructive towards Cherp and staff. (The RPBin incident) and that happened around the same time as the notice of taking legal actions, which also comes off as spiteful and destructive. Conclusion/TLDR: Insolent isnt a real person, and was created as an alt-identity. A small lie that grew out of control. Over the years, Thelle has faced a lot of vitrol from the community as both the Insolent identity, and himself, and is understandably angry. I did post some screenshots on my chappybird account regarding suspicious activity and strange behaviour. I am perfectly happy to have my mind changed. Hell, evidence of old convos of Thelle and Insolent chatting with each other over discord/skype/text messages/etc would be enough to convince me. (Considering they knew each other for over a decade, I dont think thats a hard ask) Its really easy to prove you are two different people, legal documents dont need to be provided imho.

Im not like, angry or on a crusade. I went on fightingroleplayers tumblr to make fun of this conspiracy, full disclosure. Then the roled/sponsus/stripe thing occured to me and i pulled at a thread and now I'm kinda skeptically intrigued. (edited)

now, ive got bloodwork tomorrow and they need to check my morning cortisol levels, so i DO need to get some sleep tonight or the test will be useless. I am like, coming at this as a person that doesn't really care about crimes of this manner tbh. So that's colouring how I look at this. To me just because something is a federal crime doesn't weigh in on whether it's right or wrong.

And full disclosure, I was at the receiving end of a person doing a huge doxxing and harassment campaign against me, from this very community, via what turned out to be a bunch of sockpuppet accounts. My workplace was contacted at one point, by someone from tumblr. So I am, admittedly, biased towards this sort of conspiracy. I also don't think it's that hard to show proof that it's false.

i think maybe the counterpoint here is that it's not about morality inasmuch as Thell having publicly posted about some of these things, like... if it were true that these documents were forged then Thell would be fucked legally given that all of it is well-recorded both on here and within the communication between him and TT

...but i guess most of all the key missing thing here is that it'd all be entirely and completely pointless

if Thell was, indeed, Insolent and thereby the author of Cherp's code and had some vendetta against the website and wanted it shutdown he could... Just Do It.

like, there's no need for any of this.

rather than write up that whole contract he could have just revoked Cherp's access to the code outright and DMCAd the website if it stayed up

i think thell has been pretty vocal about being perpetually annoyed about having to be the go-between for the users complaints and the staff. i think it makes perfect sense that he was "involved" with the site before it was announced, he's known for having experience hosting a site like cherp and is outspoken about his dissatisfaction with the website. if Evelyn was looking for someone to both host their website and collect complaints about cherp who better to talk to?

And again it is. So easy to prove wrong. He's been accused of worse and said worse to other people. If this was levied towards me, that I'm the same person as a friend of mine, I would say "well this is fucking stupid. Look." And just. Prove otherwise. Or ignore it. I don't understand why someone would get so worked up over something that, assuming it's not true, is a really silly accusation.
